I Never Thought Id See the Day

Book Review: I Never Thought I’d See the Day! by Dr. David Jeremiah

Dr. David Jeremiah is the Senior Pastor of Shadow Mountain Community Church in El Cajon, California. He is a Southern Baptist trained theologian who has written many books and produced a plethora of radio and T.V. specials. He is considered by many in the conservative ranks to be a pillar of trust and knowledge.

This book was written in 2011 so it’s a little outdated. However, the points Dr. Jeremiah comments on are still real and relevant. He addresses the problems Christians still deal with on a daily basis. Problems such as the wear-and-tear of pagan cultural influences on Christians, the degradation of biblical mandates and the decline of marriage as defined by God. In every chapter, he methodically lays out the problem, what he perceives as the source of the problem and the remedy that Christian believers should exercise to avoid being negatively influenced.

What I like most about this book is the affluent use of Biblical references Dr. Jeremiah uses to support his dogmatic treatises in promoting the Christian life and lifestyle. An unbeliever could easily be led to confess Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior since the plan of salvation is presented not once, but several times. It is the underlying theme of this book.

There was one chapter I found rather boring simply because I could not relate to it personally. It was the chapter on the state of Muslims in the Middle East. Although it was informative, I just didn’t find it relevant to me.

It is a long book (over 300 pages!) but well worth the time and effort to read it. It is a good book to give as a gift to family or friends. Overall, I give it 4.5 stars out of 5.0.
