Floating Rentals

Do you like being on the water? Do you like it enough to sleep on it? If so, then renting a floating home might be for you! If water is not your thing, how about renting a tree house instead? Not that adventurous and looking for something a little less exotic? Then check out our features on Castle in the Sky and Georgia Stopover.

If vacationing on the water does sound appealing to you, check out the 22 over-the-water vacation rentals below. Some are floating houses, some are on stilts, and others are actually boats and yachts!

The views are amazing! There are lots more pictures for each, showing both the exterior and interior, just click the “learn more” links to see them all. Many are in the US, some are in other countries, and there is a wide range of rental prices. There is something for everyone; from romantic getaways for two to family adventures. They are listed in no particular order so be sure and scroll through them all.

Looking for more?

If by chance none of those interested you, there are lots more floating rentals in North America. I can’t wait to stay in one myself. David has said many times jokingly (or maybe it was serious) that he’d like to sell our home and live on a boat. My smart-alec response is always “send me a postcard when you get to a port.” Maybe spending a few days in one of these rentals will give us a taste of what that life would be like. Who knows, I might decide its something I’d actually enjoy!

VRBO has every type of rental you can imagine, from standard motel rooms to traditional homes to exotic adventures like tree houses and floating homes. We’ve used them many times for our own personal vacations. Check them out, or even list your own home as a rental when you are away. Listing is free!

Me too! It’s neat to experience things a little more adventurous some times.

I love to travel and have yet to stay on a boat or in a home over water. This post has opened me up to searching outside of the box when it comes to staying over night!

I didn’t even realize these types of options existed before I started exploring what VRBO had to offer. “Outside of the box” is a great way to put it!

Wow! I love to travel but this is not something I have considered before. Thank you for sharing so many options to make this a reality – I know what I’m doing for my next vacation!

If you do stay in one sometime, I’d love to hear about it!

This is great! I love learning about new vacation spots AND places to stay. Love the idea of staying on the water too. Thanks for sharing your finds!

Me too! I think staying on the water would be really cool. Beautiful views!

I love these! What a beautiful way to wake up each morning. And much more reasonably priced than what I would have imagined.

That is what I was thinking also. Some are more pricey than others but some are less than traditional waterfront rentals, and these are not just water “front” but water “over” lol!
